We aren't just growing food, we're Growing People too! Our service users and volunteers are central to developing the project- they are effectively the employees of our social enterprise and are involved in everything from preparing the ground and sowing the seeds, to harvesting and delivering the crops. We simply could not manage without them and this is a key part of our philosophy - ensuring that service users play an active role in the delivery of the project and, therefore, in their own personal development and the development of their community.
We provide training for our learners in horticultural skills, offering a Diploma in Progression for Market Garden Horticulture at Level 1. We assist learners to develop their employability skills, self confidence and general life skills.
We also hope that spending time with us on the farm will inspire a more acute awareness of our interdependence with nature, promoting a new generation of environmentally conscious young people!
We welcome volunteers, school groups and other visitors to our Urban Farm site which we hope will become an educational resource for the entire community, as well as a place to meet, eat, share ideas, relax and play.
